Use Cases

What We Host

Most of what runs through this building falls into one of six formats. If yours is not here, it probably still fits.

  • Holiday Parties

The Grand Ballroom seats 310 for dinner and holds 500 for a reception. December books early.

  • Client Receptions

The Skyline Ballroom holds 400 for a standing reception with views across downtown.

  • Meetings & Conferences

Single sessions to multi-day conferences. Thirteen spaces means breakouts run down the hall, not across town.

  • Trade Shows

5,000 square feet of open floor with 18 foot ceilings, plus mezzanine space for registration.

  • Training Sessions

Classroom setups from 15 to 300 seats. Franklin and Roosevelt pair well for split-group formats.

  • Board Retreats

Private tenth floor rooms away from the lobby, with guest rooms in the same building.

Logistics

The Practical Details

  • Catering

All food and beverage is prepared in house by our own kitchen. We are full service, so there are no outside food vendors to coordinate. If you have a specific menu in mind, tell us and we will work it through with our chefs. Tastings are part of the process.

  • Audiovisual

The Grand Ballroom has a projector and screen in the room. The Skyline Ballroom has house sound, with projection available as an add-on. Meeting room AV is added per event. AmericaVen is our exclusive provider and handles setup and operation.

  • Parking

Valet is available at $35 per night. Self parking is at the 6th Street deck, one block from the entrance, with street parking on Hamilton. Validation is not standard but can be arranged and prepaid for corporate groups.

  • Load-In

A loading dock in the basement serves the building, reached from the alley at a five foot dock height. A service elevator runs from the dock to the lobby. Lighter loads can come through the Hamilton Street entrance, which has a ramp.

  • Lodging

Guest rooms and suites are in the same building, so attendees travelling in do not need a second address. Room blocks can be arranged alongside your event.

  • Location

555 Hamilton Street in downtown Allentown, five miles from Lehigh Valley International Airport and within walking distance of Miller Symphony Hall and the Allentown Art Museum.

Before You Ask

Questions Planners Ask

If something is not covered here, put it in the form and we will answer it directly rather than sending a brochure.

The Grand Ballroom is our largest single space at 5,000 square feet with 18 foot ceilings. It seats 450 theater style, 310 for a banquet, 300 classroom style, and holds 500 for a standing reception. The Skyline Ballroom on the eleventh floor is the second largest at 4,000 square feet, seating 360 theater or 220 banquet with a 400 person reception capacity. For groups larger than 500, spaces can be combined across floors with registration and overflow in the Lobby Mezzanine, which adds another 1,530 square feet.

No. The Americus is a full service property and all food and beverage is prepared in house by our own kitchen. That keeps quality and timing under one roof rather than split across vendors. If you have a specific menu in mind, a cuisine your team expects, or dietary requirements to work around, tell us and we will take it to our chefs. Tastings are part of the planning process, so you order it, taste it, and see what your guests will get before the event.

The Grand Ballroom has a projector and screen in the room. The Skyline Ballroom has house sound but no screen or projector, so projection there is an add-on. The tenth floor meeting rooms are equipped per event rather than standing, with displays sized to the room. AmericaVen is our exclusive audiovisual provider and handles delivery, setup, operation, and strike. Packages cover most needs, and individual components including wireless microphones, uplighting, and pipe and drape are available separately. Ask for the current rate sheet when you inquire. Outside AV companies are permitted but must sign a production waiver, pay a fee, and provide a certificate of insurance.

Three options. Valet parking at the hotel is $35 per night. Self parking is at the public deck on 6th Street, one block from the entrance. Street parking is available on Hamilton Street. Validation is not included by default, but for corporate groups it can be arranged in advance and prepaid so attendees are not handling it themselves on arrival. Tell us your headcount and we will price it.

Cancellation charges are tiered by how far out you cancel, calculated as a percentage of the food and beverage minimum plus a percentage of any space rental fee. The closer to the event date, the higher the percentage. Either party can cancel without cause on written notice, and charges are due at the time of cancellation. If you cancel but want to rebook, there is a one time option to move your dates within twelve months, subject to availability and to the rebooked event meeting or exceeding the original revenue, with charges already paid credited toward it. Exact figures depend on your contract and we will lay them out before you sign.

The building has a loading dock in the basement, reached from the alley behind the property. Dock height is five feet and the alley is one way, so vehicles back in when the dock is clear or park close to the building. From the dock, a hallway leads to a service elevator that runs up to the lobby. For lighter loads, vehicles can park on Hamilton Street and come in through the front, which has a ramp into the lobby. We can send a photo guide showing the route. Tell us your load-in needs when you book and we will confirm dock availability and elevator access for your dates.

Yes, two ways. The virtual tour at the top of this page walks the entire tenth floor and can be viewed from anywhere, which is useful if the decision maker is out of state. For in-person tours, request one using the form below and we will schedule around your availability. Most planners do the virtual walkthrough first to shortlist, then visit.
